Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Navoi

Alisher Navo'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature (Uzbek: Alisher Navoiy nomidagi Toshkent davlat oʻzbek tili va adabiyoti universiteti) is a public state university located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Established by presidential decree in 2016, the university serves as the primary scientific and regulating institute for the Uzbek language and philological humanities within the republic.

History

The university was officially founded on 13 May 2016 following an executive order signed by President Islam Karimov. The institution was organized through the structural merger of two pre-existing departments: the Faculty of Uzbek Philology of the National University of Uzbekistan and the Faculty of Uzbek Language and Literature of the Tashkent State Pedagogical University. The university was named in honor of the 15th-century classical Turkic poet and statesman, Alisher Navoiy.

Academics

The university operates several targeted humanities faculties focusing on linguistics, pedagogical training, translation workflows, and literary editing. Its foundational core includes:
