Tarun Anand

Tarun Anand (born 30 August 1973) is the founder and chairman of Universal Business School, set up under Strive India Education Foundation, a not-for-profit section 8 company. Prior to this he was chairman and managing director of Thomson Reuters, South Asia.
Early Life
Tarun was born in Raipur, Chhattisgarh and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is an alumnus of Green Lawns High School, Mumbai. He thereafter joined H.R. College of Commerce & Economics to pursue his Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) Degree from the University of Mumbai. After graduating in 1994 he acquired a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from .
Career
1991-2000
In 1991, Tarun joined HSBC Holdings PLC, as a sales executive. He thereafter joined Standard Chartered Bank in Mumbai as manager of business financial services, where he was later promoted to business manager for the West Zone.
2000-2012
In 2000, Tarun joined Reuters India (now Thomson Reuters) a British major multinational mass media, news and financial services corporation. In 2005, Tarun was promoted as Global Head of Treasury Division and moved to New York to lead the $2 billion business across 136 countries. He co-founded FXMarketSpace (a 50:50 joint venture between Reuters & Chicago Mercantile Exchange) creating the world’s first FX centrally cleared exchange. He was invited to join as a founder member of the Reuters Innovation and Venture Board.
Tarun moved to FXMarketspace as Global Head of Strategy and Head of Sales, Asia, based out of Hong Kong. In June 2009, Tarun re-joined Thomson Reuters as managing director and senior company officer, South Asia. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of ANI, a news, media creation and distribution agency.
2012-present
In March 2009, Tarun and Gurdip Anand established Universal Business School in Karjat, Mumbai. In April 2012 he quit Thomson Reuters to focus on his new venture.
Recognition
Tarun received the Distinguished Diamond Jubilee Alumni Award in 2020 and the Golden Jubilee Alumni Award in 2010 from H.R. College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai. Under Tarun’s leadership, Universal Business School won the "The Most Up-coming Business School in India" award in 2013 by ASSOCHAM and the Ministry of HRD, Government of India given by the Hon’ble HRD Minister Dr Pallam Raju.
