Tarondor of Gondor

In J. R. R. Tolkien's universe of Middle-earth, Tarondor was the twenty-seventh King of Gondor. He should not be confused with his namesake Tarondor of Arnor.

Tarondor son of Minastan was born in T.A. 1577 and succeeded his uncle Telemnar, who died in the Great Plague of T.A. 1636. He came to The Throne when he was still relatively young and was the longest-reigning King of Gondor.

War and plague had tortured his country and Tarondor strove to rebuild it and its power. The most significant event in his reign was the removal of the capital from Osgiliath to Minas Anor. He was succeeded by his son Telumehtar in T.A. 1798.
