Tangemeenie

Tangemeenie is an indie pop/electronica band from Tallahassee, Florida. Tangemeenie released its debut album, "Faust," on the Animal World Recordings label (also the original home to Monotract and Frog Eyes) in 2001, belonging to an early wave of independent bands that made conspicuous use of MP3 technology and the internet as primary tools for selling and promoting their music.

Tangemeenie first became ACTIVE in the late nineties and early 2000s, establishing itself early on as a member of the original MP3.com community, where its songs frequently appeared on the indie and indie lo-fi charts.

During the period from 2001 to 2002, the group went on to tour the East Coast and perform at the 2002 CMJ Music Marathon. The group also received airplay on college radio stations nationwide, ranking in the top 100 on several major college radio station charts and providing theme music to syndicated public radio programming.

In 2003, Tangemeenie went on a prolonged hiatus as Lori and Steev, the band’s only fixed members, took on lead roles in the now defunct indie rock band Pocket Novel Mystery. More recently, Tangemeenie has resumed studio work and announced the release of a new full-length in early 2009.
