Tahrima Jannat Surovi

Tahrima Jannat Surovi () is a Bangladeshi student activist. She participated in the 2024 July Uprising in Bangladesh. She was a coordinator (Gazipur) of Students Against Discrimination.

Arrest

Surovi was arrested by the police from her home in Gazipur on the night of 24 December 2025 and charged with extortion of Tk 50 thousand (BDT). which news sources rumored to be Tk 50 crore (BDT).

A prominent journalist, Naimur Rahman Durjoy, raised the allegation. Later, allegations of extortion against the journalist for not accepting a [...] proposition were aired. When Durjoy received the July Courageous Journalist Award as a reporter for Desh TV, a notice was issued stating that he was not a Desh TV journalist.

The police sought a 7-day remand for further investigation, but the court granted a 2-day remand. On the same evening, the Gazipur Senior Magistrate Court granted bail and released her.
