System Disrupter
System Disrupter is part of the ex-pat South Korean Hip Hop group the Kimchi Crew. The Kimchi crew have released 2 EPs Fermentin' and Post Hummus, both released in 2007. Each album features solo tracks from the System Disrupter.
History
The System Disrupter was born in Invercargill, the major city of the province of Southland, New Zealand. While his first love was rock music, in his late teens he gravitated towards hip-hop. Early influences included N.W.A., Public Enemy, Nas, Jay Z and the underground west coast Hip Hop Movement.
The Kimchi Crew consolidate
The Kimchi Crew were initiated by long time friends, General Refuse and Bongo III, who both hailed from Ottawa. Other members including the Wack MC, the System Disrupter and Luke Warm were welcomed into the fold after a grueling audition process led by General Refuse. Initial demos for the album that was to become Fermentin' started in late September, 2006. After being signed to the independent label Cutlet Cutz, recording started in February and March, 2007. Recording was performed at Bubblegum studios in Seoul. The album included two solo tracks by the System Disrupter, Ajumma's Lament and Marvellous Disruption. Due to the success of the first album, pressure was applied on the group to quickly record a second album. Due to this pressure and also because of the Untimely death of the Wack MC, Post Hummus was an entirely darker, more concise beast compared to its predecessor. The System Disrupter had one solo track on this album, Illusions of Superheroism. After The Release of Post Hummus' the crew decided to take a break from recording. This gave time to the System Disrupter to concentrate on finishing his solo E.P, Return of the Vile Style. The Kimchi Crew are now preparing their third full length album "Bootleggers".
