Swabr
swabr is an enterprise microblogging service for companies, organizational and educational institutions located in Berlin, Germany. The service launched in December 2010. swabr is free, simple and intuitive to use.
swabr can be understood as a “Facebook for companies” or a “Twitter for companies”, because it combines elements from Facebook (restricted network) as well from Twitter (short messages) merging into one single communication. On swabr each company has its own, closed and private network for employees with a verified email address for internal corporate communication in real-time.
Background
The rapid growth and the increasing popularity of social networks for private users has led to a rethinking of companies and organizations. It was the beginning of a new era - called Enterprise 2.0 - resulting in the instrumental set of corporate communications. It emerged enterprise microblogs that have adapted ideally in relation to the type of operational cooperation at the social change and offer very short messages for a faster and better communication in the business environment.
Real-time communication is the future of internal enterprise collaboration. Facebook and Twitter offer the possibility of real-time communication, however they do not provide functionality for companies. swabr’s solution is a "Facebook for companies". Every 20 years, a new, widespread form of cooperation is adopted by the enterprise world. After Facebook and Twitter having established a new type of communication for consumers, swabr now offers the advantages of real-time communication for companies.
Features
Status Updates: The central element of swabr are short messages, the so-called status updates. Users answer the question "What are you working on?" with short, internal notifications. This way, employees, colleagues and supervisors can keep each other up to date with a minimal effort. Each member of a corporate network can read and comment on these messages. This agile, internal corporate communication is originated in real-time. swabr makes it very simple to address a notification to one specific person. When entering the @-symbol, all colleagues in the network are automatically suggested to the user.
My Feed: The feed is the activity stream of each user and displays all relevant and/or corresponding messages in chronological order. My Feed is the main part of swabr - the entire corporate communication takes place here. All messages published by the user, as well as the participating colleagues’ notifications are shown here one below the other. Status updates with the latest comment will automatically be displayed at the top of the page and therefore will be brought into focus.
Content: Users can attach one or more files to a message. Precisely at work, it is essential to discuss documents, spreadsheets or graphics with colleagues. The separate area "content" clearly shows all files including the related comments that have been shared by all users of a corporate network.
Topics: Topics, also known as tags, are a very useful way to organize and retrieve messages within a network. The identification with keywords is done by a preceding #-sign. By clicking on a topic all messages containing that keyword are displayed.
