SUPERM
SUPERM is an international multimedia art team founded by Russian author and artist Slava Mogutin (b. 1974, Kemerovo, Siberia) and American artist and musician Brian Kenny (b. 1982, Heidelberg, Germany). Since 2005, they have collaborated on shows in New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Stockholm, Oslo, Moscow, and Leon (Spain). Upcoming shows are set in Bergen (Norway) and New York. SUPERM installations combine photography, video, sound, text, drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and performance.
SUPERM’s project evolves the idea of “breaking the walls” of any given space and appropriating it, making it their own. The subject matter of SUPERM installations and videos is inspired by street art, pop culture in general and hip hop and various youth trends and fetishes in particular. Using themselves and their friends as models, actors and collaborators, SUPERM creates a multidisciplinary body of site-specific work that reaches audiences far beyond the usual art crowd.
SUPERM videos have recently been shown at Paris Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, PornfilmfestivalBerlin (2nd Prize in Short Film Competition), International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, as well as various art and club venues across Europe and the US.
The ever expanding list of SUPERM collaborators include Gio Andrade a.k.a. Black Peter, Dominic Johnson, Bruce LaBruce, Christophe Chemin, Josh Lee, Tom Dura, Joakim Andreasson, Marcelo Krasilcic, Billy Miller, Jason Farrer, Christophe Hamaide-Pierson, Desi Santiago, and Dmitryi Rozin.
