History
Superfad began life as a small motion-graphics company in Seattle in 2001. Founded by Geraint Owen and Will Hyde, the company's name was a playful jab at the nature of the design industry to chase trends and fads.
After steadily building a roster of clients and agencies, the company expanded to New York in 2003. With the growing demand for motion-driven content on the West Coast, an LA office was opened in 2005 by new partners Kevin Batten and Justin Leibow, also a Creative Director. In 2007, Superfad opened its first European office in London, headed by EP Stuart Robinson and Creative Director Georgia Cooke.
Some of the most well-known campaigns Superfad has produced include Visa 2008 Summer Olympics campaign, Playstation 3 "Universe of Entertainment", Honda "Crave", Durex "Get It On", Diet Pepsi "56 States", and Sprint "What's Happening Now". Their work runs the gamut from 3D to live-action to animation to illustration to combinations of the above.
In 2009, the company expanded to include an interactive division, hiring Harshal Sisodia as an Executive Producer in the Los Angeles office. Reflecting the growing trends in the commercial world, Superfad continues to branch out into more integrated marketing, including online, web apps, mobile, outdoor, and strategic campaigns.
Awards
In 2005, Superfad was awarded the prestigious Silver Lion at the Cannes Film Festival for their short film “The Best Cigarette,” commissioned by The Sundance Channel.
Playstation 3 “Universe of Entertainment” and Target “Art Connects” won AICP Awards in 2008 and have been entered into the permanent collection at MoMA in New York.
