Summer Film School Uherské Hradiště

Summer Film School Uherské Hradiště (, shortly LFŠ) is annual non-competitive film festival with a long tradition, organized by Association of Czech Film Clubs (AČFK). Event is constantly located in Uherské Hradiště since 1992.

Unlike of regular film festival main goals of LFŠ is to develop knowledge of film art and history fans and professional education of film club organizers. With the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival it's one of the biggest film venues in the Czech Republic.

History

Tradition of LFŠ started in 1964 in Čimelice, where the first meeting of film clubs representatives was held with 50 participants. In 1974 was the event officially named Summer Film School, since 1993 it's open for public. In 1997 the program was started to be divided to thematical cycles, which are changed every year. During the existence of the festival it was held in different cities – Čimelice, Hořovice, Písek, Trutnov, Světlá nad Sázavou or Jihlava. Since 1992 is the event regularly held in Uherské Hradiště. Because of the flood on Moravia in 1997 was LFŠ extraordinarily moved to Jihlava.

Despite of financial problems solved by a long-term loan by city of Uherské Hradiště has LFŠ in 2015 about 5,500 accredited visitors, 237 movies were projected, there were 9 theatre performances, 14 concerts, 6 educating programs and plenty of lectures all around the city, including Kino Hvězda, Kino Mír or Slovácké divadlo.
