Sukhia Dental Surgery

Sukhia Dental Surgery is one of the oldest dental clinics in karachi, and perhaps the 1st specialist dental practice in the Indo-Pakistan subcontinent. It is located on Main Abdullah Haroon Road, which was formerly Victoria Road, Karachi Pakistan. It has been operation since 1932 by the late Dr. Rustam Sukhia before the partition of India.

History & Origin

After Partition of India in 1947, the city of karachi became part of West Pakistan.Currently it is run by his son Dr. Rumi Rustam Sukhia and his grandson Dr. Hoshang Rumi Sukhia, who is Professor of Orthodontics & head of department at Jinnah Medical & Dental College, Karachi.
The late Dr. Rustam Sukhia was often visited by The Founder of Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, for periodontal problems. Jinnah also had 2 molar tooth extractions performed by Dr.Sukhia during the 1943-1945 period.
Dr. Rumi Rustam Sukhia has served previously as President of The Pakistan Dental Association Karachi from the period of 1991 to 1996 and is currently President of The World Zoroastrian Dental Association Karachi Chapter.
Prof. H R Sukhia is also one of the founder members of the Pakistan Association of Orthodontists .
Sukhia Dental Surgery was the 1st dental practice to introduce silver amalgam tooth fillings for Dental Restoration in the country.The dental team has been the pioneers of Tooth Bleaching and whitening since 1982. The clinic nowadays specializes in cosmetic dentistry and fixed orthodontic braces.

Current Status

Fixed Orthodontic Braces or Dental Braces were introduced at a minimum no-proffit cost in the year 2000. Since then the clinic has revolutionized orthodontics and has currently catered to over 2000 cases. The practice has done numerous research pertaining to orthodontics and dentistry.
