Style XP

Style XP is a computer program designed to modify the graphical user interface of Windows XP. As of version 3.19 features include modifying themes, explorer bar, backgrounds, logons, ICONS, boot screens, transparency, cursors and screensavers.

History

Created by TGTSoft; it is an alternative to other skinning programs such as WindowBlinds which is more popular. Style XP works by patching a DLL file that prohibits the operating system from using skins that are not digitally signed by Microsoft.

Popularity

The programs popularity has largely risen the last several years, with several sites opening up that provide free skins to the public, these skins have also become more popular after a patch was released that did not require you to purchase Style XP to use the skins.
