Strange Trout from Outer Space / Cheese Orbs

"Strange Trout from Outer Space / Cheese Orbs" is the 44th episode of The Cartoon Network show, Camp Lazlo and the fourth chapter of the Cartoon Network Invaded mini-series. It aired May 25 2007. This chapter contains two normal (11 minute) episodes, but as a crossover event, they are tied directly to each other; it is also the only Invaded chapter which has two distinct titles.

Plot

Strange Trout from Outer Space

While swimming in Leaky Lake, Samson is abducted by aliens who demand cheese.

He doesn't believe they're really aliens, but to prove Samson wrong, they perform actions which only aliens do, including outlandish dancing to fiddle music. Once the aliens realize Samson has no cheese, they shove him out the flying SAUCER. When he hits the ground, Lazlo introduces him to three new peculiar campers, Canadian trout, and Samson is convinced they are the aliens who just abducted him.

When nobody believes him, Samson tries to provoke their earlier behavior, by playing fiddle music in the hopes that they'll perform their outrageous dance. The only ones who do believe Samson are the three minor campers, Fred, Gordon and the beaver; they accompany Samson on his quest to prove his theory. Raj directly refers to the three as 'vague background characters'.

It turns out that the three Canadian trout are professional cheese thieves, and the three minor characters are actually the aliens who disguised themselves as Fred, Gordon and the beaver. When the cheese thieves make off with their booty, the aliens have no reason to stay at Camp Kidney, and move their base of operation to Acorn Flats.

Cheese Orbs

With their plot at Camp Kidney foiled, the three aliens head over to Acorn Flats, where they are befriended by Nina. When they learn that the Acorn Flats International Cheese Ball will be the next day, the aliens wait with her in her science hut, hoping to steal the cheese. With Nina's attention focused in the aliens, Patsy becomes jealous, and hatches a scheme that tries to appeal to Nina's fascination of unworldly things and win back Nina's friendship - Patsy will eat all the cheese at the Cheese Ball, which will cause Patsy to bloat as a reaction to a cheese allergy (this despite being seen eating grilled cheese in "I've Never Been In A Sub".)

This works and she pretends to be an alien named Gorgonzola, which is also a type of cheese. Her hair also resembles the Gorgon of Greek legend. With all the cheese gone, the aliens are once again thwarted in their attempts at cheese domination. As the they leave, they threaten revenge upon all the earth, which basically consists of leaving in their flying saucer, never to return.

Trivia

• Cheese Orbs is the second of three episodes focused on Acorn Flats. The first being Miss Fru Fru and the third being Call Me Almondine.

• The scene in which the aliens interrogate Samson in their ship is similar to scenes that Bloo watched in the movie theater in "Cheese a Go-Go," the Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends Invaded episode.

• In Cheese Orbs one of the aliens sees a board game that uses a shoe. The board game is actually Monopoly which uses a shoe as a game piece.

Goofs

• In Strange Trout From Outer Space, Samson exits the flying saucer and Lazlo tells him that 3 new campers arrived and thinks their the aliens. They can't possibly be the aliens because Samson just exited and The New campers had arrived by the time Samson was abducted, though they might have the ability to teleport
