History
Early History
Sticky Sweet was founded in 1988 by singer and songwriter Mike Stevenz when he met Keith in Gossips Rock Club and began a friendship, it was in a nightclub called the Astoria in which they decided to form a band. They immediately chose the name of Sticky Sweet, and posted ads in various magazines, searching for like-minded musicians. When Mike and Keith had first decided to interview people, they chose a sleazy room in Cadmen, which proved to be a large disaster, with only one person showing up who proved to be any good, they quickly hired Waz, he would fill the spot of the drummer. Soon after the arrival of Waz, replies to the ads in Kerrang! and such other music magazines were flooding in, the next auditions, also held in Cadmen, gave a little more success, as they hired Kaj as The Rhythm guitar and whittled down the lead guitar applicants to Paul. In 1990, the band was complete, they did various gigs, notable ones including Battle of the Bands, and a gig playing support at Marquee, however, while the UK Tour was being finalised, a meeting was called, Keith, Kaj and Paul wanted to change the genre of the band slightly, going for a grunge style band, Mike and Waz wanted to stay in, the now dying Glam genre, this led to the departure of Kaj, Keith and Paul, and the break up of Sticky Sweet.
2006 and beyond
The Reformation of Sticky Sweet
In 1997, Mike moved up north to Bradford, there he put behind his music career after various stints with other bands, and became a bus driver for the company First located in Leeds. He again advertised for musicians after putting the original Sticky sweet Demo on MP3.com and got replies from interested magazines and online 'zines and a record company. There he required Andy, Si and Mike, and after a few gigs, Andy was told to quit by his doctor, and then the rest of the band decided, Sticky Sweet wasn't something they wanted to do, however, Mike transferred to Doncaster there he met several other bus drivers interested in music, and he revived Sticky Sweet once more. With these new members the line up was now; Mike on Vocals, Paul Cartwright on Guitar, Steve on Drums and Jim on Bass, they went on to release a promo album, but then due to artistic differences, Jim had to quit, but was later replaced by Val.
