State patty's day
State Patty's Day is a holiday created by a Penn State student that is celebrated each year on the Saturday before spring break. The 4th Annual State Patty's Day was celebrated on February 27, 2010. The holiday was created in 2007 when the actual St. Patrick's Day was during spring break.
Drinking is The Primary function of the holiday, and there have been many efforts recently by the borough of State College and Penn State University to end the holiday.
Joe Veltre, the student who created the "holiday," has denounced it and called for its end. http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2010/02/26/state_pattys_day_founder_denou.aspx Police in State College said the 2010 "celebration" was the worst in the event's history, with 185 reports on Saturday including disorderly conducts, alcohol violations, criminal mischiefs and assaults. http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2010/03/01/police_see_challenging_busy_da.aspx
