Standard Capital Group

Standard Capital Group is a Canadian oil and NATURAL gas boutique investment firm based in Calgary, Alberta. Established in 2009, it is credited for the creation of the first Canadian mutual fund trust (Standard Resources Fund) that successfully purchased oil and gas assets via eligible investors. With a Net Asset Value of CAN$ 50 million, the Standard Resource Fund is the largest private oil and gas Mutual Fund Trust in Canada. Its production is evenly weighted between oil and natural gas.

Standard Resource Fund's assets are in the Western Canada sedimentary basin, a geologic region which has a long history of productivity in crude oil and natural gas.

Standard Resource Fund pays a quarterly distribution. Since Standard's assets are considered a depletable resource, its dividend payments are not taxed at the regular dividend rate, but rather as return of capital instead of return on investment; this is an additional tax advantage in the United States, and applies to all trusts.
