Program
The school has had only three headmasters, all Jesuits, since Fr. E. Gales founded it in 1971. He was succeeded by Fr. K.C, Jacob in 1987 who remained in office until 2009 when Fr. K.T. Thomas took over. In 2014 Xavier began to offer dual possibilities for exam boards, both the Madhyamik Pariksha and Central Board of Secondary Education. In 2016 there were 2,048 students (1522 primary, 526 secondary) and 70 classrooms.
Facilities include gymnasium, dance and music rooms, and health clinic. A major sport at the school is boys' football.
The school encourages its students to join Leadership Training Service, which since its founding in Darjeeling in 1959 has involved over 15,000 students in leadership training for social responsibility in an ecumenical vein, from the local community all the way to the world stage. LTS group activities at Xavier include social service weeks, insertion trips, debate and extemporaneous speaking opportunities, and fund raisers.
