St Joseph College of Communication
St Joseph College of Communication (SJCC), is the first university affiliated Media College in South India. SJCC is a Christian minority self-financing education institution affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India. The college is the first of its kind in South India, offering career-oriented bachelor and master of arts university degrees in Multimedia, Animation, Graphic Design, and Cinema & Television.
History
SJCC was founded in August 2004. SJCC was formally inaugurated by Sri Oommen Chandy, the Chief Minister of Kerala, in the presence of the founder, His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil (Archbishop Emeritus) on 2nd July, 2005.
The growing importance of the media and the desire of the Archdiocese of Changanassery to form excellent communicators with the right attitude have resulted in the establishment of Media Village. Media Village was dedicated to the nation by Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India. Media Village provides right media vision to all with a well-set goal of creating a value-based media culture. It is this vision that has resulted in the forming of St Joseph College of Communication, the unit of Media Village.
