SSLearn
SSLearn is a proprietary, low-cost LMS, or Learning Management System, offered as a hosted, or SaaS service from the e-learning company Solid State Learning. Solid State Learning promotes SSLearn as a simple and intuitive SCORM-compliant system for tracking e-learning courses. The administrative features of SSLearn are 100% web-based and include features that are common to corporate learning environments, such as course assignments, groupings of users, and SCORM completion reports. While SSLearn was not designed to manage the entire talent management process of a global enterprise, this simple LMS provides software integration with other systems, such as human resources applications, for a complete solution.
History
Solid State Learning was founded in 1999 by Sheldon Murphy, an e-learning consultant serving large US-based corporations. Mr. Murphy had played a key role in creating a corporate e-learning program as an employee, including the selection, implementation, administration and support of a LMS market leader. As an e-learning consultant for Solid State Learning, Mr. Murphy was asked to evaluate and recommend many learning management systems for clients. In the course of deep evaluation of these systems, Sheldon discovered what would later become the SSLearn LMS, a simple, cost-effective LMS with many of the more popular features that medium and large corporate enterprises utilized on a daily basis. Solid State Learning acquired and then customized SSLearn to serve mainly mid-market, government, and non-profit institutions.
