Sree Narayana College, Chengannur

Sree Narayana College, Chengannur is situated six kilometres away from Chengannur, Alappuzha district Kerala in scenic surroundings. It started functioning in 1981 and is affiliated to Kerala University. It is named after the great saint and social reformer Sree Narayana Guru. The college is situated on a beautiful hillside. The village atmosphere, the calmness, the fresh air from the southern side and of course cultural tradition of the area make the study in the college a tremendous experience. Even though small in size and number of students, the college is said to have given birth to some of the great personalities Kerala had ever seen. Of all the batches that went out enlighted from the college, the pre-degree first group batch of 1993–95 is regarded as the best by the college management and the local administration. Their activities were not limited to studies only. They were the best in teamwork, cultural activities, sports, campus politics and of course, in campus love. They made the life in the college an ever memorable one for both themselves and the College. A five-member team gave the right direction to the whole college in those days. Those young lads, who have attained great heights in their later life had got the basics of life management from the great college. Those young leaders were: Jayamohanan, Ajith Pal, Shinu Idikkula Ichayan, Rajesh Chatty and Saju Vendor. The college offers multiple under-graduate and graduate courses, and is constantly adding new courses as needed. Currently two new courses, B.Sc Computer Science and B.Sc.
