Speranza (IIT Delhi)
Speranza is literally translated from Italian as 'Hope' is the annual youth festival of The INDIAN Institute of Technology Delhi .It occurs during the spring semester and is the brainchild of the Board of Student Welfare (BSW ,IIT Delhi) . The event was introduced to commemorate 50 years of IIT Delhi's functioning and 42 years of BSW .The festival is mainly aimed at youth and student development, promotes positive lifestyles and aims at motivating students to engage in productive activities .Some of the events organized in this festival are :
Anti Addiction campaigns : A drive aimed at eliminating substance abuse among students
WE THE PEOPLE/Buzz BOng :A platform event where participants are encouraged to speak out regarding socio-political problems and find solutions .
Fire Ware : A series of workshops ,games and demonstrations promoting fire safety and educational workshops on how to react during a [...] attack .
Regenesis : Environmental campaign aimed at raising general awareness and promoting less carbon intensive lifestyles. Events include cycle rallies ,seminars and movie screenings highlighting environmental issues such as global warming, harmful consumerism etc .
Let's Talk : A series of seminars and workshops on [...] education for the youth .
Education Fair : A confluence of embassies and organizations which present options for higher education and advertise various career options .
Escape the pace : A series of events and workshops providing information to students on coping with high stress lifestyles and time management .
Camps : Various camps aimed at a variety of subjects such as blood donation ,student passports ,NGOs and their volunteer programs ,yoga and meditation etc . Book Fair : A book fair covering many genres .Not education specific .
The structure of Speranza is such that IT Works very closely with a large number of NGOs which do field work on some of the topics discussed above .
