Spend The Night/Ten Years Time

"Spend The Night"/"Ten Years Time" is a double A-side single from Irish singer-songwriter Robert O'Connor. The single was his debut release in Ireland, and was also released in the UK as an online/digital release through Matchbox Recordings UK.

The song "Spend The Night" was written by Robert O'Connor together with Brian Grace, a guitarist with Juliet Turner. Steve Hogan, previously a professional drummer playing with the likes of LeAnne Rimes and Damien Rice, produced the track.

"Ten Years Time" is a cover-version of the Gabrielle track, originally released as the second single from her 2004 Play To Win album.

Billy Farrell, who produced a number of tracks on The Corrs In Blue album, arranged, produced and mixed Robert's version. Anthony Drennan, a guitarist noted for his work with Genesis and The Corrs, as well as playing on the original version of "Ten Years Time", played on Robert's version of the track.

Hotpress magazine reviewed the single in its March 2006 issue (when "Ten Years Time" was released as a promotional single in Ireland), saying: "This shouldn't really be our cup of tea, but O'Connor emerges from this issue's singer-songwriter crop with top honours. Featuring a gentle piano, cello and acoustic backing, it's an almost identikit Ben Folds copy (especially the vocal) yet still works well, maybe for that very fact".

"Spend The Night"/"Ten Years Time" missed the Irish Top 40 Singles charts upon its release on November 3, 2006, entering at #56.
