Specific mecha in media

In some works of science fiction (and, more rarely, fantasy), mecha, giant robots, meka, or mechs are piloted or remote-controlled limbed vehicles. They are GeneRally, though not necessarily, bipedal. The distinction between low-end mecha and their smaller cousins, the powered armor suits, is blurred; in general, anything large enough to have a cockpit where the pilot is seated is usually considered a mecha.

This article is a list of mecha shown in television shows, films, and other forms of entertainment media. In most stories in which they Appear, mecha are war machines: essentially armored fighting vehicles with legs instead of treads or wheels. Some stories have them used for civilian purposes such as heavy construction work, police functions, or firefighting.

For more information AbOUT mecha in general, see the article on Mecha.
