Southern Cross Philharmonia Orchestra

The Southern Cross Philharmonia Orchestra (SCPO) is a professional Chamber Orchestra based in the city of Melbourne, Australia. It was founded in 2005 by former BBC staff conductor Gerald Gentry and Bianca Rooman (WIDOW of the late Australian composer Roger Rooman).

The aim of the Orchestra is to champion Australian music. Some of the Australian Composers represented so far are, Philip Bracânin, Brenton Broadstock, George Dreyfus, Houston Dunleavy, Percy Grainger, Christina Green, Stuart Greenbaum, Jesmond Grixti, Ken Muirden, Andrián Pertout, Thomas Rainer, Roger Rooman, Johanna Selleck, Margaret Sutherland and Peter Tahourdin.

In 2009, Southern Cross Philharmonia Orchestra won the Australian Business Arts Foundation (AbaF) Business Volunteering Award.
