The South West Side (Denver) is a region located in Denver County, Colorado.) As of the 2007 Denver Piton Foundation, the region/area had a total population of 85,592 people. The South West Side neighborhoods are considered to be either a part of Denver's west side or south side, depending on the individual person.)

Geography

The South West Side of Denver borders West Denver (Barnum, Barnum West, and Valverde) to the north, east and southeast Lakewood to the west, Englewood, Sheridan, and south Lakewood to the south, South Denver (Platt Park) and Highway I-25 to the east.)

Demographics

As of the 2007 Denver Piton Foundation, there were 85,592 people, 28,808 households, and 18,894 families within the south west denver communities. There were a total of 30,075 housing units. The racial makeup of the community was 11.66% non-Hispanic White, 2.76% Black or African American, 0.80% Native American, 5.00% Asian, 35.43% from other races, and 11.81% from two or more races. 79.78% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.)

The median income for a household in the community was $46,479. )AbOUT 10.29% of the families and 14.64% of the population were below the poverty line, including 19.02% of those under age 18. The southwest side of denver has a very large Latino/Hispanic population (mostly Mexican), but there is also a significant number of Asian people in the community.)

Education

The South West Side of Denver is served by the Denver Public Schools. The main high schools of choice) in south west Denver are Abraham Lincoln High School and John F. Kennedy High School. However, some parents in south west denver elect to send their kids to West High School.)
