Sokhi
Sokhi was a Bengali television serial which used to be aired on GEC Star Jalsha, from Monday to Saturday at 10:30 p.m. The series starred Debolina Dutta and Manali Dey in the lead roles. Debolina came back on small screen after a long time with this soap.
Significance
The series came to air shortly after the 2012 [...]-case of India. The soap was basically a reflection of the present day social position of Indian women, how they are exploited and how nowadays they sometimes, raise voice against all the social evils, like, molestation, rapes and even prostitution.
Plot
Ishani is a reporter, working for the newspaper Probhater Alo while Kamala is a housewife, married to Bijit Sanyal, the third son of Rudraprasad Sanyal, a powerful lawyer and head of the Sanyal house. Kamala saves Ishani from being molested. These girls later on come together to raise voice against abuse and harassment face by women. While Ishani is independent and free spirited, Kamala has always learnt to follow the norms set by society. They realized that no one is fighter by birth everyone have to gather their courage to raise their voice. So everyone has the potential to do that. Then they started to share a deep bond to help each other wherever they needed.
