Society of Software Engineers

The Society of Software Engineers (SSE) is a club primarily for Software Engineering students first created at Rochester Institute of Technology. It exists to provide a mentoring center, networking opportunities with alumni, and a social outlet for students.

History

The SSE was first started in 2001. It was geared towards getting students involved in college activities and to help keep students motivated in their course work.

Structure

The Society follows democratic principals, led by a cabinet of officers. A constitution exists which defines the roles of the officers and retains the original purpose of the Society. The constitution states that elections for all cabinet members is to be held during the Fall of each year. Officer positions include (but may not be limited to): President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations, Technology Director, etc.

In addition to the cabinet, the Society recruits Committee Heads who are in charge of planning and executing different events. Committee Heads include (but may not be limited to): Fund Raising, Gaming, Mentoring, Sporting, etc.
