Sociedad de Alumnos de HPA Mexico

The Sociedad de Alumnos de HPA Mexico is an organization which groups all the students from Highland Prince Academy de Mexico Junior High and High School, which has its own, equivalent to an Associated Student Body.

The Students branch of the school is ruled by the Sociedad de Alumnos de HPA Mexico, which divides itself into several levels:

  • Presidency of the Sociedad de Alumnos: The President (who is appointed by the Principal, not elected by students) heads the Sociedad de Alumnos (something equal to a Head of State of a nation).
  • Vicepresidency: Symbolic role, performs the same duties at school whenever the President is absent.
  • Treasury: In charge of the Students Society finances.

Each classroom has its own elected president, called the Presidente del Salon, contrasting the appointment of the President of the Sociedad, and all the presidents of each classroom make up a semi-official ASB Committee (together with outstanding students) that must support the President always, no matter if they completely disagree (see below President's faculties). Usually, is the Vicepresident who leads the council while the President heads it symbolically.

Usually, nearly always, and until now, the President and Vicepresident are outstanding students, who because of that, are honoured by the highest school's single-rank award, the Medal of the Order of the Academic Excellency. The medal constitutes a symbol of their outstanding positions and qualities as members of the order, and both the President and the Vicepresident have to be styled His or Her Academic Excellency. Once their term has ended, they are no longer styled like that, although they keep their membership at the order.

President role and faculties

Rarely, an ASB President will be bestowed (because of its appointment and not election) with such a quantity of powers and faculties, and although they are mostly symbolical (with some exceptions), they are official and the President's orders or suggestions must be officially attained though not actually. His term May Be as long as he or she remains at the school.

  • Role:
    • Mostly its main role is taking part in activities concerning school's foreign affairs, such as contests, award-giving events, and such other events.

Student ambassadors

The Sociedad de Alumnos de HPA Mexico may, if desired or considered necessary by the Sociedad's Committee, appoint student ambassadors in any other school that the ambassadors choose. The embassies are not formal, and thus, not recognized by the school, only in some cases by the ASB. Currently, there are the following student embassies:
