Slime online

Slime Online is an online MMOP, which can be also considered a MMORPG. It is set in the world of Slime Online, where you take the role of a small slime, which collects currency in the form of "Slime Points".

Currently, Slime Online is in its Beta Phase, and has already a large fanbase of regular players.

Development

Slime Online was created using the Game Maker game engine, and a platformer engine for Game Maker. It calls a WinSock dll, called 39dll, in order to call online functionalities that the game includes. The game itself was coded in GML.

Slime Online was originally intended to be a platformer game with minimal interaction between the players, but later that changed. It became a MMOP, and quickly became a very popular game.

The game is not finished yet, being currently in its Open Beta stage.

Gameplay

The player chooses a server and takes the role of a slime, which, like in most MMORPGs, has no set story. Players can take part in "Quests", or merely wander around exploring and collecting Slime Points (the currency of the game). There is a Highscore board, which displays who has the most Slime Points at the time, along with the amount. The current beta version has added mining into the game, allowing players to "mine" inside the mining area by repeatedly tapping the "A" key on the keyboard in certain areas to obtain different items.

The game itself is a platformer where players can customize their Slime with accessories and outfits, as well as planting trees, flying through an "airship", and finding hidden items.

Servers

The game has, as of now, three servers;

Gooey world, the main server, which is hosted by BlaXun. The most popular server of the three.

Blobby world, the second server, which is hosted by Hiro. Less popular, but still played quite a lot on.

Beta-server, a betatest server. This one's also hosted by BlaXun. The beta server is used very rarely for testing.

Moderators & Admins

On the boards, the admins are; BlaXun, Austin, and PenguinDude

The board moderators are; Fenwaydog21, Falco, Rappybas, Hiro, and Lycondone.

For gooey-world, the moderators are; BlaXun, Austin, Penguindude, Lycondone, and Wirodeu.

For blobby-world the moderators are; BlaXun, Hiro, Huge_Stinker, Falco, and Flare.

Player Interaction

In the main game world, there is minimal interaction between the players. Players can communicate via emoticons, but other than that, no real in-game chat function is implemented.

Players, however, can enter chat rooms, in which full chatting can be achieved. Those chat rooms are scattered across various cities and locations.

Players can also take part in "clans", for which there are special quests available.

Quests

Currently in-game there are three quests. The First One added was helping a ghost in the haunted house area find his ghost brothers and sisters scattered around the haunted house. After the player completes this, they obtain the Skeleton Key, which allows the user to access another room. Currently, the room that is unlocked by the Skeleton Key is useless.

The second quest added is the Old-Laboratory quest, where player must find a keycard to access the system room located somewhere in the haunted house. After the player finds the broken keycard, the old man in the laboratory would fix the keycard in order to allow the player to access the system room which holds the item-mixer inside.

The third quest, which the players are required to complete should they want a pickaxe (needed to mine). This quest introduces death into the world of Slime Online, where the player must find an old pickaxe to give to an unknown man just outside of the mine. After this quest is completed, the mysterious old man dies and the player obtains the pickaxe.

Clans

Clans are groups of players which, currently, do not offer anything except a yellow clan tag below the member's name. As a member of a clan, players get the option to leave the clan and view other members. As the leader of a clan, the player can invite other clanless players into the clan by clicking on them. Once this happens, the player gets the choice of joining the clan or rejecting the clan. Leaders can also resign and make a member a clan, kick a member, or even dissolve the clan. Although there is little to do currently with clans, players will soon be able to participate in Clan-Wars, where different clans try to take over the "Team Tower".

Reception

While the game is enjoyed by many who have tried it, there are some who believe that it is boring in the current abscence of enemies, and offering only a handfull of quests. While such comments are important and must be considered, the game is still in Open Beta, and as such, isn't finished. New quests, items, and activities will be added overtime (although the game is still in open beta, monsters or other enemies of any kind are unlikely to emerge, as stated by the creator BlaXun himself). As of now, proper critic reviews are yet to be seen.

Secret accesories

The in-game secret accesories are as follows: Pori pori hat, Flame hat, Rain cloud, Bunny ears, Mini slime, Wizard hat, Jetpack.

You can find these secret accessories scattered around the world, each being worth 250 Slime Points.
