Sir Rod Entertainment

Sir Rod Entertainment SRE is an American entertainment company started in 1995, that hosts charitable and non-charitable events. It is wholly owned and controlled by Rodrick Walker and is based in Austin, TX. The most notable event hosted by Sir Rod Entertainment is the Annual NFL Celebrity Weekend benefiting organizations that include Dell Childrens Medical Center, 5th Quarter Charities, Women Called Moses Center for battered and abused women & children, and the Boys and Girls Club of Austin. This charitable event takes place in Austin and includes a celebrity basketball game, casino night and autograph signing session to raise funds for these organizations.

History

Rodrick Walker, who founded of Sir Rod Entertainment in 1995, is originally from Dallas, Texas and a graduate of the University of Texas. The former Longhorn running back teams with NFL players to bring awareness to community issues and raise money for various charitable organizations. Some of the NFL players he has teamed with are: Michael Huff, Vince Young, Roy Williams, Bo Scaife, Selvin Young, Shaun Rogers and Cedric Griffin. He hosted the first NFL Celebrity Weekend in 2008 and over 30 NFL players and celebrities participated. SRE acquires sponsorship for their charity events from various entities including but not limited to: Jaguar, H-E-B, Cricket Wireless, ALOFT Hotel, Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q, Austin Toros and Segway Nation. In April 2010 Cowboys wide receiver Roy E. Williams spoke with ESPN AbOUT his involvement with the third annual Weekend.
