Silver Reasons

Silver Reasons is an Alternative Rock band from Melbourne, Australia.

History

The beginnings of Silver Reasons was in 2005, when Chris and Carlos were in the same music class for school. At the time, Chris played keyboards and Carlos played guitar. The two clicked immediately and began jamming together both Inside and out of school. They acquired a temporary female vocalist, but nothing ever went further than a few songs in the basement. It was around this time that Carlos suggested that Chris pick up the guitar, as he could see some great potential in him. Chris did just that, and within a few months, Chris had taught himself the basics and was progressing along with the band.

Chris and Carlos continued to play together, and soon got themselves a drummer, Matthew Van Der Velden, also from their music class. The boys covered a few songs, and made a few originals to later be performed at school events. Though there were still no vocals, the boys were happy with the sound they were getting.

Not long after, in 2006, Jessica-Jade Bruce (JJ) joined the boys music class. They heard her voice and were automatically hooked. They asked her if she would perform with them for class, and she did. Now one step closer to a complete list, the band started thinking AbOUT where they would be going in the near future. There was dispute in JJ's mind whether she wanted to officially "join" the band. She already had a few side projects as well as a potential solo career ahead of her, but after lots of thought she decided she was in, and she introduced the others to her long-time friend and Bassist, Adrian Szostek

Now with a full band, the group called themselves "Next In Line" and performed at small school functions and competitions, taking the school Battle of the Bands and Talent Quest that year. But there started to be a growing division between drummer, Matt, and the other members. After a few weeks, Matt pulled out of the band as the music they were playing wasn't what he wanted at the time. Now drummer-less, the band continued on playing and practising regularly, building up a solid base of cover songs as well as a few originals. They played at some small local events, but without drums it was diffucult to land anything bigger.

After about 6 months without and drums, the group decided to become more proactive about it, and asked around for some names. One on the list was a handsome young man by the name of Darren Keane (Daz). Daz was rung up one night and spoken to by Chris about maybe joining the band. They arranged a date, and met soon after. From there, Silver Reasons was born.

Present progress

The band recently won the 2007 Spectrum Battle of the Bands, and are proceeding to compete at a higher event in the Regional Finals for the competition. They have received attention from local papers and organisers and have been offered a number of gigs. They plan on releasing an EP towards the end of 2007, to be recorded at Pony Studios.
