History
SIINKO was founded on 4 March 2021 by Chinedu Ezionu, a Nigerian music executive whose early work in music promotion included operating a YouTube mashup platform used to showcase emerging African artists. According to P.M. News, Ezionu's early Digital Promotion efforts led to the discovery of the artist RunUp, whose music later became central to the label’s growth. The label was established as an independent platform aimed at providing support for up-and-coming African musicians. In an interview with The Guardian, Ezionu stated that the company was created to address structural gaps in the African independent music ecosystem and to help artists build sustainable careers.
In 2026, SIINKO reportedly had a catalogue of over 140 recordings and had generated hundreds of millions of digital streams across streaming platforms. Vanguard described SIINKO artists as the artists "defining SIINKO’s sound," citing their contributions to the label’s cross-border musical identity.
Reception
P.M. News listed the record label among the record labels driving Nigeria’s music industry, citing its role in artist development and digital distribution. TheNews described SIINKO as "a record label charting its own path in the Nigeria music scene," highlighting its focus on independent artists and digital expansion.
