Shreya Dutta
Shreya Dutta is an Indian competitive swimmer. At the age of 3 years Shreya started swimming in College Square Swimming Club, Kolkata and later got into the Sports Authority of India as a swimmer. She was selected to represent the West Bengal state swimming team. Shreya has achieved many swimming records and has won many medals both at the nationals and state competitions.
Profile
Shreya Dutta is from Kolkata, West Bengal. She is currently studying Electricals and Electronics Engineering at University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata. She began swimming when she was only 3 years old. Her first medal came when she took part at the College Square Swimming Club competition and since then Shreya has been dominating the sport in her category. As of 2010 she has won more than 14 medals in all competitions, from school to national, of which 10 are gold and four are bronze.
Shreya also demonstrates accomplishments in journalism where she started off as a student journalist at The Telegraph in schools. She is the founder and creative head of StarWords India, an online portal for people to express their opinions.
Career
In her debutant appearance at the State Age-Group Aquatic Championship 2006 at Subhas Sarobar, Shreya won two Gold medals in the girls’ group IV category, rewriting 50m butterfly (in 0:37.45) and 200m Individual Medley (in 3:08.73) marks. Shreya was awarded with academic excellence honor by Eastern Railway. Later, she won 3 bronze medals representing West Bengal in the 23rd sub-junior National aquatics championship held at the international-class JIRS pool complex in Kanakpura.
