Shreveport Community Church
Shreveport Community Church, formerly known as First Assembly of God Shreveport is a Bible based Christian Church located in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was founded in the 1950s in Cedar Grove at 59th and Henderson. In 1957, Reverend Rodney Duron and his wife Frances Duron came to the church as evangelists and stayed for the next forty-one years as pastors. They were followed by their son Denny Duron who celebrated ten years as pastor in 2008. SCC's motto is a combination of two of Pastor Duron Sr.'s favorite sayings: "To God Be the Glory and The Best is Yet to Come."
Community Outreach
SCC has a number of different outreaches to the community including a food and clothing distribution center, a [...] rehabilitation in house facility, weekly [...] rehabilitation meetings, a daycare and a Christian school, Evangel Christian Academy. Members also bring sandwiches to those waiting in the LSU-Medical Center waiting room on a daily basis. SCC and its staff served as organizers of shelters during several of the recent hurricane evacuations.
Membership
SCC is one of the most diverse churches in the Shreveport area. Over 3,000 persons consider SCC their "home church". Attendance at any one weekend service is approximately 1,200.
