History

Seeing the demand for Quebec-based web hosting services, the Cassar brothers founded SherWeb in 1998. In early 2005 with the growth of business demand for software-as-a-service (SaaS) and seeing that email and collaboration solutions could help the company move forward, the Cassars started to look into diversifying SherWeb’s offerings.

In 2000, SherWeb added a VP of Operations, Jean Caron, to oversee support services and all IT technology.

The Microsoft Hosted Messaging and Collaboration platform was introduced in mid-2005 and SherWeb started building its Hosted Exchange 2003 infrastructure in the fall of 2005.

In 2006 SherWeb launched its first Google advertising campaign. By January 2007, SherWeb served 15,000 business users on Hosted Exchange 2003 services and complementary solutions such as Hosted SharePoint, Hosted Mobility, email archiving, and advanced spam/virus protection.

SherWeb continued to update their hosted offerings by expanding, in July 2007, to include Microsoft Exchange 2007. In the following year SherWeb hired Marc-Andre Fontaine as Vice President of Product Development, helping to promote and secure continued research and development for a growing and diverse base of English and French speaking customers.

July 2010 marked another milestone as SherWeb rolled out its Hosted Exchange 2010 offering.

The continued expansion of clientele and services brought on the inauguration of the Montreal office in early 2010. Montreal was chosen for its pool of high-level bilingual IT experts and its numerous universities. The metropolitan city was also favored for its centralized location which facilitates meetings with international clients and partners.

In August 2011 SherWeb was Ingram Micro Cloud’s first pure-play Canadian vendor to join the Ingram Micro Cloud family.

In January 2012, SherWeb also went a step further in the broadening of its cloud offering by launching SkyNox, its online backup solution that offers military-grade security, continuous and scheduled backups as well as fast recovery.

Then, on October 24 2012, SherWeb was the first hosted solution provider to launch a fully functional hosted version of the newest Microsoft offering, Exchange 2013. The first hosted Exchange email was sent by a SherWeb customer only a few hours later.
