Shazza Nzingha
Shazza Nzingha, born Sharon Roach, is an American political activist born in 1965.
Roach was born in Florence, Alabama. She attended college at the University of North Alabama and Alabama Christian College, earning her B.A. in Accounting. In 1999, she moved to Washington, D.C. and coming from a background of poverty herself in rural Alabama, became involved in the activism for the poor. In 2000, she joined The New Black Panther Party in which she became the Chairwoman of the Washington DC Chapter. She formally resigned from the organization in 2003 because of conflicting beliefs with the NBPP.
National Alliance of Black Panthers
On 31 July 2004, she formed the National Alliance of Black Panthers. Like the Salvation Army, it promotes community relief projects for the needy and emergency organizing and assistance during disasters. The organization has community workers in the U.S., Canada and Africa. Nzingha is an advocate for the homeless in the nation's capital and conducts many community projects for the relief of the poor.
