Shaun Anthony Harris

Shaun Anthony Harris (born May 18, 1978) is a professional football coach/manager. Currently with Capital City FC of Ottawa within the Canadian - first division. Harris is also director of the International Soccer Development Academy with its professional development teams having competed within USL (United Soccer Leagues). Harris worked with Everton Football Club of the Premier League coaching within International Football Development, as well as part of a championship winning staff at the Los Angeles Galaxy within MLS.

Management

Harris' football/soccer career includes his days as a player coming through the US professional, university and academy systems and toward his transition into coaching and management. Harris has been part of coaching and management setups in North America and Europe. Harris has also been a part of two of the three FIFA World Cup organized by the USSF. Harris has consulted as to coach education and player development with some of the top British, Spanish, French, Netherlands and German clubs and within UEFA study groups. Harris has been a part of two UEFA European Football Championships in Portugal 2004 UEFA European Football Championship and PolandUkraine 2012 UEFA European Football Championship. Harris has also toured clubs in South American and Asia on coach development and or within international scouting operations expanding his global network. Harris holds coaching diplomas in Europe - UEFA A 'Level 4' among other foreign diplomas completed through the Royal Dutch Football Association as well as in South American from the Brazilian Football Confederation. Harris also holds top diplomas in North America from the USSF all national licenses and from the NSCAA premier diploma and goalkeeping diplomas 'levels 1,2 and 3'. Harris is also a professional member of the PFCA (professional football coaches association) and the LMA (league managers association) in the United Kingdom as well as the USSF, NSCAA and Football Association of Ireland.

Capital City FC

Harris presently with Capital City FC of Ottawa within the first division of Canada. Harris was appointed as Head Coach and Technical Director in February before the start of CCFC’s 2011 season. Harris oversees all football operations for Capital City FC of Ottawa. Harris and Capital City FC of Ottawa had immediate success, Capital City FC of Ottawa had two separate 12 match unbeaten stints during the 2011 season. The team completed the season within the Canadian Soccer League third overall in the league standings and with their immediate success Capital City FC of Ottawa secured a postseason/playoff berth as early as August 2011 with a month remaining in the league season. Capital City FC of Ottawa continued its consistent form into cup play, winning the quarter-final series 3-2 on aggregate versus Montreal Impact and then impressively defeating Serbia White Eagles of Toronto in the semi-finals 5-0. Capital City FC of Ottawa impressed upon many with the third youngest roster in the Canadian Soccer League and on their way to a Cup Final appearance within the Canadian Soccer League first division, Rogers Cup Final.

Everton Football Club

Harris began working with Everton Football Club within international football as an international affiliate in 2007 and then was appointed coach in 2008 of the USL (United Soccer Leagues) Everton pro development teams. Also In 2008 Harris was added to the International Football Development staff for Everton Football Club and remained as it's USL (United Soccer Leagues) head coach with duel roles during that period. In his first season with Everton, Harris led the USL (United Soccer Leagues) u20 team to a runner-up finish as the only new team within the pacific south conference. In 2009 Everton returned for its second season finishing runner-up for a second year in a row with an overall top goal differential in the country and only one point off of the pacific south conference title, gaining an invitation to the North American Super20 Cup. In 2010 Everton won the pacific south conference and returned to the North American Super20 Cup in Rockford, Illinois. Also in 2010 Everton's u23 program finishing top of the division, providing the u23 program direct competition to Major League Soccer teams during the ""2010 FIFA World Cup"" break and other West Coast based professional teams from the USL (United Soccer Leagues) and NPSL (National Premier Soccer League) and ""Mexican League One"". Harris remained with Everton Football Club working with the academy and within International Football Development through 2011.

Los Angeles Galaxy

Harris was added in 2005 to the Los Angeles Galaxy, Steve Sampson staff who Harris' largely credits his professional development toward. During Harris' time at the Los Angeles Galaxy and in 2005 Harris was a part of the staff winning the U.S. Open Cup and MLS Cup double. During the 2005 season Harris' role was defined on the technical staff focusing on the reserve team, performance analysis, player development, scouting and the MLS super draft, while preparing for the Major League Soccer (super draft) leading into the 2006 season. The tragedy of President and General Manager Doug Hamilton’s sudden death in the preseason of 2006 shifted the regime of the staff after the start of the 2006 season. Harris remained with the Los Angeles Galaxy as Frank Yallop took over as head coach in May 2006.

College/University

Harris was extended his first college coaching job at Santiago Canyon College due to his success at nearby Canyon High School, SCC saw its best two-year period in program history during Harris' tenure as its lead assistant coach. Such success saw Harris leave Santiago Canyon College to become an associate head coach to Martin McGrogan at Irvine Valley College. While at Irvine Valley College, Harris experienced immediate success again finishing runner-up both seasons on the final day of conference play within the orange empire conference and as part of the staff saw Irvine Valley College earn two straight regional finalist berths. Harris' ability to recruit and his success on and off the field provided him the opportunity to move to California Baptist University in 2008 as the lead assistant men's soccer coach. In two seasons at California Baptist University, Harris was responsible for helping the Lancers to back to back postseason berths in 2008 and 2009 and only its second and third ever playoff appearances in university men’s soccer history at that time. Harris left the university after the completion of the 2009 season to focus directly on his role with Everton Football Club returning back into professional soccer full-time.

Playing career

Before university and at the youth level Harris had the opportunity to play with three different clubs within cal-south, ODP (olympic development program) - regionIV USYSA and within USSF (national development program), also an opportunity within Major League Soccer, Major Indoor Soccer League and abroad at AFC Bournemouth. As a player Harris spent trials with AFC Bournemouth on two separate occasions after being scouted by Tony Pulis at the Bournemouth Classic but due to visa restrictions and the inability to gain work status in the United Kingdom, Harris also trialed with Sligo Rovers. Returning to the United States Harris played fourteen times, scoring eleven goals with nine assists for the Anaheim Splash. While maintaining amateur status Harris attended LBCC before transferring to Chapman University, located in Orange, California, in 1998. While at Chapman University, Harris received a bachelors degree in MES/Kinesiology. Harris had opportunity to participate with United States U-23 men's national soccer team training camps in 1995 and again in 1999. After university Harris played for the Orange County Waves as a forward with the Orange County Waves Harris played eighteen times scoring ten times and had an additional twelve assists. Harris' playing career ended abruptly upon repetitive and re-occurring injury. Harris continued coaching at the academy level before being recommended in 2003 by former coaches USA U-17 Glenn Myernick and United States U-23 men's national soccer team Clive Charles to work with the USSF (national development program), since Harris has been apart of professional setups in Both Europe and North America within Major League Soccer, Barclays Premier League, United Soccer League and Canadian Soccer League.
