Sharp SM8521

The Sharp SM8521 is a chip that was used in the Gamecom by Tiger Electronics. This sound chip was made by Sharp Corporation. The Gamecom had many poor Quality games, and therefore the console was a failure.
The Sharp SM8521 chip has four sound channels. Two of these channels are 4-bit wavetable synthesis channels. Channel 3 is a signed 8-bit PCM DAC. Channel 4 is white noise. The Sharp SM8521 has 5-bit volume and 12-bit frequencies. The ROM capacity is 4096x8 bits and RAM is 1024x8 bits, and the SM8521 has a SM85CPU core.
