In September 2014, the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) sanctioned Krauser for securities violations, alleging he misused investor money. The conduct under investigation took place in 2007 through 2009 while Krauser was employed as a deputy Maricopa County attorney. Krauser borrowed money from three individuals that he knew. All parties signed promissory notes, and there were no explicit stipulations contained in the promissory notes on how the money would be used.
The ACC through a civil administrative proceeding determined that the promissory notes were securities. They also found that the borrowed funds were used to pay down his home equity line of credit, his credit card bills and student loans, purchase a residential lot, and to repay his brother who had previously invested with him.
Krauser and his attorney, Alan Baskin, said he has paid back one investor/lender in full, another 70 percent and half to a third investor. Giving Krauser credit for previous payments, the commission ordered him to pay the balance, $79,347 in restitution and an administration penalty of $20,000
