Shades of Hope Treatment Center
Shades of Hope is a world-renowned addiction treatment center located in Buffalo Gap, Texas. Patients come from all over the world seeking Shade’s expertise and experience with the treatment of all addictions including eating disorders, alcoholism, substance abuse, gambling issues, shopping addiction, [...] addiction and internet addiction. Adding an interesting dimension to treatment, most of the therapists and treatment staff are in recovery from an addiction.
Treatment
At Shades of Hope, the theory is to treat not only the addiction but the person as a whole. Recovery programs at this treatment center are tailored to suit individual patient needs based on an extensive personal evaluation. The treatment team is hand-picked from the staff which includes a psychiatrist who is also Board Certified in Addiction Medicine, a Family Practice physician, a dietician, a nutritionist and a host of therapists. The core program is a twelve-step program. Cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy, individual therapy, anger management, emotive therapy, shame management, desensitization therapy, body image work and stress management are employed as necessary. Shades also offers art therapy and patients engage in yoga therapy. The therapeutic approach treats the mind, body and spirit.
Shades of Hope offers three different programs including a “Breaking Free” two-day weekend workshop, a six-day intensive program and a 42-day residential program. If necessary, Shades of Hope also offers transitional living programs after treatment.
Alumni are encouraged to keep in touch with their therapy team and visit the grounds after completing treatment.
Celebrity Clientele
Shades of Hope attracts an international and celebrity clientele. Shades of Hope protects the privacy of its clients and does not disclose the names of those under treatment or those who have been treated.
Acclaimed actress Ashley Judd chose to publicly disclose her treatment at the Shades of Hope facility in an interview with Glamour magazine. The Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actress discovered the treatment center while visiting her half-sister, country singing sensation Wynonna Judd. Ashley Judd said she was, “dealing with depression, isolation and co-dependent relationships”.
Wynonna Judd publicly spoke about her treatment experience at Shades of Hope in an interview with Larry King. The multi-Platinum recording artist entered Shades of Hope for treatment for an eating disorder related to food addiction. Both women have positive things to say about their time and treatment at Shades of Hope.
Shades of Hope was featured on an episode of the Emmy award winning show “Intervention” on A&E that aired on December 28, 2009. The harrowing episode entitled "Amy W." profiled a young woman battling anorexia, alcoholism, [...] and bipolar disorder. Many of her problems stemmed from being sexually molested by a neighbor at the age of 8. The young woman, Amy W., from New Mexico was successfully treated at Shades of Hope following an intervention conducted by interventionist Candy Finnigan with Amy's friends and family.
Shades of Hope was featured on an episode of The Dr. Oz Show in a segment on food addiction that aired on November 17, 2009. A successful on-air intervention was conducted on a woman who has been battling her food addiction for 30 years. The intervention was conducted by Dr. Oz and Brad Lamm with two of the woman's friends. The woman was immediately taken by a Shades therapist from the set to a waiting car and flown to Shades of Hope Treatment Center for inpatient treatment.
