SG Blocks

SG Blocks is a company that specializes in building Container homes and was founded in 2003 by David Cross and Steve Armstrong. It is based in the United States and takes advantage of the excess shipping containers that can be found at shipping ports, which are left there because the U.S. imports more than it exports.

History

Co-founder David Cross used to work as a marine merchant. He handled shipping containers and began to see that they could be used to build buildings.

The homes

It reuses the shipping containers by modifying the container to fit into the shape of the house. When many containers are put together, a house is made. It takes two to four months to build a house out of recycled shipping containers, AbOUT half the time of building a regular home. The result is a sturdy home that is cheaper than the average house.
