S.G. Balekundri Institute of Technology
S.S.E.T's S.G.Balekundri Institute of Technology (Kannada: ಎಸ್ ಜಿ ಬಾಳೇಕುಂದ್ರಿ ಇನ್ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಟೆಕ್ನಾಲಜಿ, ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ) is an engineering college affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University. The college campus is situated at Shivabasav Nagar, Belgaum. It was established in 2008. The Institute has been named after Shri. Shivappa Gurubasappa Balekundri (born May 5, 1922), who was a Civil Engineer and an irrigation expert. He was the chief engineer and architect of Malaprabha, Ghataprabha, Alamatti and Narayanapur dams of the south, north and eastern regions of Karnataka State. He is best remembered today as Second Visvesvaraya.
The Institute has five academic departments.

The department offers undergraduate course with an intake of 120 students and Post Graduate ( M.Tech ) course in Thermal Power Engineering with an intake of 18 students which was inaugurated on 9 October 2014. A low speed wind tunnel with specifications of Test section : 300 X 300 X 1200 mm and Maximum speed : 40mts/second was recently acquired.

Library
The Central Library of SGBIT was inaugurated on 7 December 2009 by the Trustees of SGBIT in the benign presence of Poojya Shri Jangadguru Shivaratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji Poojya Shri Jagadguru Dr.Tontad Siddaling Mahaswamiji and president of S S E T Shir Dr. Siddharama Swamiji of Rudrakshimath Naganur Belgaum. The digital library is also equipped with internet connection for browsing technical journals and other educational sites for research and project purposes.
Hostel
The institute has three hostels, two for girls and one for the boys.
WiFi
The institute is equipped with wired broadband internet connection of 30 Mbit/s bandwidth.
IT Centre
The Information Technology Centre ( ITCentre) caters to the installation, maintenance and repair of the Computers,printers and UPS’s of the institute. The centre is also responsible for the operation of the WiFi facility, the digital library and the language lab. The college website is also maintained by the IT Centre.
Transportation
Transportation facility is provided to the students and staff. Five college buses ply predetermined routes covering all the key areas of Belgaum.
Health Care
The college provides medical care to the students through two resident doctors, one for the male and another for female students.
Gyms
Gyms are provided for both male and female students.
