Sean Munson

Sean S. Munson is 6'9 240 lbs. He was on born April 27 1982. He is the son of Steve and Betsy Munson and is the oldest of 4 children. His siblings are respectively, Ryan, Clarke and Misty. He grew up as a poor farm boy in the countryside of Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley.

High school

Munson began his basketball career playing for Clarke County High School in Berryville, Virginia. Under head Coach Brent Emmart, Sean scored 1082 points in two varsity seasons. He led his team in rebounding and scoring his junior and senior years. During his senior year, he averaged 28 points and 16 rebounds. He garnished first Team All-District Honors his Junior and Senior years and was named Bull Run District Player of the year and First Team all State in 2000

College career

Munson signed with Lafayette College and played there for one year (2000-2001). In 2001, he transferred to Wagner College. Under Coach Dereck Whittenburg, he became a part of a team that won the NEC Regular Season and Tournament Championship. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament and played Pittsburgh in 2003.

In his three year career at Wagner, he scored 801 points and grabbed 639 rebounds and was a starter during his Junior and Senior year. During his Senior year (under Coach Mike Deane), he led his team in rebounding and scoring, and was ranked 30th in the nation in rebounding. Munson led his team to the NEC Championship game in 2005.

Education

Munson graduated from Wagner with a Double Major Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science with a Minor in Physics. He finished with an overall GPA of 3.5.

Honors

Munson was named to the NIT Tournament team in 2003 and 2004. In 2003, he traveled to the Bahamas to play the Bahamian National Team. In 2004, he traveled to China to play the Chinese National Team. In 2005 (his final collegiate season), he was recognized as an Academic All-American. He also received the New York Metropolitan Area Basketball Student Athlete Award, which was presented at Madison Square Garden. The Northeast Conference awarded him the NEC Basketball Scholar Athlete Award in 2005. His alma mater, Wagner College, named him their Student Athlete of the Year in 2005.

Professional career

Munson has played professionally for three years. In 2005, he played in Luxembourg for Black Star Mersch. In 2006, he played in Israel for Afula. Currently he is playing for Bnei Hasharon in Herzliya and Ra'anana.
