Sean McGhee
Sean McGhee is a London-based record producer, songwriter and engineer.
The first entries in McGhee's discography are remix and engineering work for Schulte Eriksson, Ricky Spontane and Beyond Dawn in 1999. His career began in earnest in 2000 as engineer and programmer for producer Andy Gill. His 18 month association with Gill was spent engineering singles and EPs for various alternative rock bands, notably Hell Is for Heroes and Regurgitator.
After concluding his association with Gill in early 2002, he embarked on a close working relationship with producer Guy Sigsworth. They worked on many successful projects together, spanning artists such as Sugababes, Bebel Gilberto, JC Chasez, Frou Frou (Imogen Heap), Mozez, Juliet, Enrique Iglesias, Robyn, Mirah, Richard Walters, Temposhark, Kate Havnevik and Britney Spears; his work on her song "Everytime" gave him his first UK Number One single.
During this time his role evolved from programmer, engineer and mixer to co-writer on a number of songs with Sigsworth, including collaborations with Siobhán Donaghy, Amy Studt, Heidrun Anna and, again, Kate Havnevik. A number of songs co-written with Havnevik, notably "Grace", "Travel In Time" (on which he collaborated with Carmen Rizzo) and "So:Lo" have been used a number of times in US television productions, most notably on Grey's Anatomy, The O.C., Commander-In-Chief and Windfall.
McGhee and Sigsworth parted company in May 2006 as McGhee departed to pursue his production and writing career full-time. He immediately began writing material with ex-Mint Royale member Chris Baker. In July 2006, Temposhark announced that McGhee was to produce their debut album. McGhee had previously engineered Guy Sigsworth's remix of It's Better To Have Loved for the band in 2005. The album The Invisible Line was completed in February 2007. McGhee has also contributed as a writer on the album, which has a projected release date of early March 2008.
In April 2007, he reunited with Guy Sigsworth to engineer and program on the forthcoming fifth studio album by Alanis Morissette, "Flavors of Entanglement". Since signing off on this project, McGhee has co-produced an EP for ex-Ella Guru member Kait DeVoy, and has resumed writing with Kate Havnevik and Temposhark for their second albums.
