Science and Technology Advisory Council - Japan Chapter (STAC-J)

The Science and Technology Advisory Council-Japan Chapter or STAC-J was formed by an alliance of engineers and scientists on December 3, 1995 in Tokyo, Japan in response to Executive Order No. 239, which reorganized the Department Of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines mandating the Secretary of Foreign Affairs the authority to create advisory boards and committees composed of expatriate Filipinos as he may deem necessary to assist him and provide advice in the formulation of substantive policies. Since then, STAC-J has evolved into a model organization implementing projects and programs in support of its mission to advance science and technology and advocate it as an inevitable tool for Philippine development. Its current membership includes scientists, engineers and students staying or who have stayed in Japan, interested and willing to pursue these objectives.

To pursue its goal of promoting science and technology, STAC-J has been Providing training programs in the areas of computer literacy and entrepreneurship. It has also been organizing conferences and support research activities on specific science and technology fields in Japan and in the Philippines.
