School of medical education

school of medical education is a constituent college of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala state, India. It is a self financing professional college offering wide variety of undergraduate and post graduate courses under medical and para medical faculty. It was started at 6 centres in the beginning with 2 centres each at Kottayam and Ernakulam, one centre at Angamaly, one centre at Cheruvandoor, Kottayam. All regional centres are managed by the respective regional directors under the Director of SME. The office of director of SME is at SME main campus in Gandhi Nagar, Kottayam. At present Dr.sr.mary Lucita is the principal of institute of nursing education of SME. Prof.Dr.Sr.Mary Lucita is a well known academic, author and organiser with vast expertise in the fields of nursing education and administration. She was the regional director of SME Angamaly regional centre before joining as director of SME.

When the private hospitals started their own colleges of nursing, School of Medical Education had to go out of their premises to set up its own campuses.
