Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury

Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury was a Bangladeshi industrialist, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He was the founder and chairman of HRC Group and a founding Director and former chairman of One Bank Limited. He was awarded the status of Commercially Important Person (CIP) by the Government of Bangladesh on multiple occasions for his contributions to trade and industry.

Early life

Chowdhury was born in Daganbhuiyan Upazila of Feni District, Bangladesh. He belonged to a prominent business family. His father, Hedayet Hossain Chowdhury, was the founder of Karnaphuli Group. He was the elder brother of Saber Hossain Chowdhury, a former Member of Parliament and minister.

He completed his higher education in London before returning to Bangladesh to pursue a career in business.

Business career

HRC Group

Chowdhury founded HRC Group in 1991. The company initially started as a shipping agency and later expanded into shipping, logistics, tea, rubber plantations, real estate, media and financial services.

One Bank Limited

He was one of the founding directors of One Bank Limited, established in 1999, and served as its chairman at different periods.
