Saviour Iwezue
Iwezue grew up in Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos State, Nigeria. According to Ashoka, experiences with flooding in her community and health problems associated with air quality contributed to her interest in environmental issues. She became particularly concerned AbOUT open waste burning and its effects on people and communities.
Environmental activism
A major part of Iwezue's work is making climate education accessible to students. In 2023, she worked with the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources on a Green Students Workshop. She has also worked with schools to promote recycling, waste reduction and environmental awareness. In 2025, The Guardian Nigeria reported on Team Illuminate's Green Student Program, which was designed to encourage secondary-school students to develop and implement environmental solutions in their schools and communities.
Team Illuminate
Team Illuminate is a youth-led environmental organization founded by Iwezue. The organization focuses on:

Award and recognition
Iwezue has received recognition for her environmental and youth-leadership work, including:
- Ashoka Young Changemaker — elected in 2024.
- QS ImpACT Women's Leadership for Climate Action Award — winner in 2024.
- Tide Turner Policy Champion — recognized in 2024.
- Canon Young Champion of the Year 2025 — finalist.
- Kofi Annan Changemaker — recognized as a 2025 Changemaker.
