Santa's Miracle Fund
The mission of Santa's Miracle Fund is to provide disabled children and their siblings with the best Christmas of their lives. This goal is accomplished by providing the children with an entire day of Christmas fun. After Santa Claus surprises the children with a visit, each child is surprised with a special trip, usually by limousine, to Toy's "R" Us. Once they arrive, each child receives a $100 gift card for a holiday shopping spree with their family and friends.
Santa's Miracle Fund was founded in 2004 when a student by the name of Christopher Michael Turner decided to create a nonprofit organization as part of a high school senior project. While Christopher new he wanted to start a nonprofit organzation benefitting underpriveleged youth during the holidays, it was his mentor Pamela Witter that provided many IDeaS for fundraising tactics and event planning. Christopher was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia and attended Lakeside High School in Evans, GA. After graduating in June, 2005, Chris took Santa's Miracle Fund to Georgia College and State University, where he is currently ACTIVE in several groups and projects including the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
Since its inception in Fall 2004, Santa's Miracle Fund has provided over 140 disabled children and siblings with the best Christmas of their lives. Now in it's fourth year of operation, Santa's Miracle Fund is supported by more than 200 student volunteers and is located in three major cities across Georgia. Each Santa's Miracle Fund chapter is organized and operated by a newly-adopted board of director system which gives power solely to the students who run it.
