Santa Fe muzik Fest

The Santa Fe Muzik Fest is a festival aimed at revitalizing the Santa Fe, New Mexico music scene and to create music and art awareness for New Mexico and surrounding states. Together with community partners, they will redevelop the abandoned Downs race track and create green awareness through implementing Green Festival techniques. Over 25 acres of amazing grass and rolling hills will be utilized for this festival.

Currently, Santa Fe is known for classical music due to the world class Santa Fe Opera and Chamber Music. It is also known for Spanish and Native American art do to its rich history and culture. However, the contemporary and modern music and art scene has been left virtually untouched. With the recent growth of the film industry, in New Mexico, it only makes sense that the music industry will build along side it. This is the vision and the Santa Fe MuzikFest and all its partners hope to make it a reality.

Founded in Santa Fe, this scenic outdoor event is based on a specific format consisting of Music, Art, Performance, Environment and Electronica. Its goal will be to bring together people from all walks of life with a little bit of everything for everyone. The Santa Fe MuzikFest will feature three days of Music including both main stream artists and underground electronic performers. The combination of art and spectacle will create a unique experience for all event attendees.

Shaun Parrish, Producer and Founder for the Santa Fe MuzikFest says, “I want to offer a new and unexplored music experience to Santa Fe. My goal is to host the largest gathering of musicians, Dj’s, artists, and performers in New Mexico history.”

VIP Director Devan Barron Is focused on creating a unique environment for the musicians, artists and VIP's. A full backstage talent camp and a 1800 square foot VIP tent promise to deliver on this detailed undertaking. Features include fountains, flowers by Pacific Floral Design, theatrical lighting, massage therapists, air conditioning, a full bar and sculpures by artist Dan Collett.

The site of the Santa Fe Downs will provide the option of camping and the many Santa Fe hotels will surely attract travelers from all over the region. The recent success of other music and art events such as Coachella and Burning Man hope to lay a foundation for interest in this type of festival. Tradition and nontraditional promotion will add a buzz worthy element to the overall marketing of this event. Local and regional cities such as Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Denver, Phoenix and Las Cruces can look forward to the Santa Fe Muzik Fest street team appearing at local events and clubs to hand out free promotional items and to sell tickets in promotion of the event. The Santa Fe Muzik Fest is the same as the Santa Fe Music Fest.

The Santa Fe Downs is located at 27475 W Frontage Rd., Santa Fe, NM 87505, just off I-25.

After the Muzik Fest, people realized how unorganized the staff was - and it showed during the show. A large majority of performers were not paid to perform, and those who traveled to perform were not financially assisted. There was a curfew at 11 pm every night for those camping, with a strict alcohol ban. A large majority of the people camping were performers who had traveled to the show, and several were harassed for staying longer then the day they were to perform. After the event, several people complained to the people in charge, and most will not return for the second festival.
